Résumé
Objectifs : Les parents-ressources sont essentiels au bien-être des jeunes, à leur fonctionnement résilient et à la stabilité de leur placement. Cependant, les services de protection de l'enfance éprouvent souvent des difficultés de rétention des parents-ressources, ce qui peut être partiellement dû à la disponibilité limitée des ressources en cours de service. Nous décrivons deux initiatives de formation en cours de service pour les parents-ressources en Ontario (Canada) qui peuvent soutenir leur important travail de prise en charge. Nous présentons également les résultats préliminaires de méthodes mixtes sur les réactions à la formation et l'apprentissage.
Méthode : La première étude a porté sur un échantillon de 91 parents-ressources qui ont suivi le Curriculum de Parents-Ressources (CPR) et a recueilli des évaluations de modules ainsi que des données sur la satisfaction suite au programme. La seconde étude a recueilli les évaluations post-formation de 26 parents-ressources qui ont suivi une formation employant le Dossier d'évaluation et d'action (DÉA) pour mieux comprendre les jeunes pris en charge.
Résultats : Les parents ressources ont réagi positivement au contenu et à la présentation de la CPR ; ils ont apprécié le format en ligne (en raison des restrictions de la COVID-19). Les parents ont noté qu'il était utile d'apprendre comment les traumatismes façonnent les attentes des jeunes et comment les pensées, les sentiments et les comportements sont interreliés. Pour la deuxième étude, l'évaluation globale de la formation par les parents était positive. Ils ont noté qu'il était utile d'apprendre comment les différentes perspectives pouvaient être intégrées à travers les résultats du DÉA et ont souligné l'importance de la collaboration avec les travailleurs sociaux en protection de l'enfance. Les initiatives de formation ont été bien accueillies et ont témoigné de la motivation des parents-ressources à continuer d'améliorer leurs pratiques parentales. Les résultats ont indiqué un approfondissement des connaissances en matière de parentalité sensible aux traumas et de l'importance de disposer de données pour soutenir le bien-être des jeunes.
Implications : La rétention sera probablement améliorée lorsque les parents ressources se sentiront soutenus et capables de gérer les besoins complexes des jeunes. Pour améliorer les résultats à la fois pour les jeunes pris en charge et pour les parents-ressources, il semble important de proposer une formation et un soutien sur une base régulière et continue, en collaboration avec les partenaires de la protection de l'enfance.
