Résumé
Objectifs : La maltraitance des enfants est un problème majeur dans le monde entier, associé à de nombreux problèmes développementaux et psychologiques qui peuvent entraver le fonctionnement de l'enfant à court et à long terme. Les effets négatifs de la maltraitance peuvent entraîner les enfants sur une voie où ils sont susceptibles d'être victimes d'abus plus tard et même d'abuser leurs propres enfants. Si les études se sont principalement concentrées sur la transmission intergénérationnelle de la maltraitance (cycles de la victime à l'auteur), d'autres, moins nombreuses, documentent les cycles de continuité intergénérationnelle de la maltraitance (cycles de la victime à la victime ; par exemple, les agressions sexuels à l'enfance). Les études sur la maltraitance intergénérationnelle manquent de cadres théoriques clairs. Cette étude vise à identifier systématiquement les théories, les cadres théoriques ou conceptuels qui ont été utilisés pour expliquer les cycles de maltraitance de victime à victime.
Méthodes : Des recherches ont été effectuées dans PsychINFO, Medline et Scopus. Quinze articles ont été inclus dans cette étude.
Résultats : Les théories les plus couramment utilisées pour expliquer la continuité intergénérationnelle de la victimisation par la maltraitance sont la théorie de l'attachement et les modèles de stress traumatique. D'autres théories ont été identifiées, notamment dans les domaines social, développemental et biologique. Soulignons qu'il n'y a eu que cinq articles sur la continuité intergénérationnelle des agressions sexuelles à l'enfance, ce qui met en évidence le manque d'intérêt accordé aux explications théoriques de cette problématique. Basé sur ces résultats, un modèle unifié des cycles de maltraitance de victime à victime est proposé pour guider les études futures.
Implications : Les futures recherches dans ce domaine pourraient inclure la vérification et la comparaison des explications théoriques et l'avancement de l'état actuel de la littérature en utilisant des méthodes qualitatives et mixtes.
