Résumé

Objectifs : L'objectif de cette étude était d'observer la relation entre les vertus des valeurs en action, le bien-être et la résilience au sein d'une population unique et non occidentale de jeunes autochtones de l'Amazonie péruvienne. Méthode : Les données ont été recueillies auprès d'étudiants (n = 172, tranche d'âge : 11-16 ans) fréquentant une école de village rural via des questionnaires auto-rapportés pour évaluer les relations en utilisant l’évaluation du VIA Youth-96 (VIA-Y-96), l'indice de bien-être personnel (PWI-A) et la mesure de résilience des enfants et des jeunes (CYRM-28). Résultats : L'analyse factorielle du CYRM-28 a produit une répartition en trois facteurs (Engagement social, Citoyenneté culturelle et Orientation) au lieu de huit. Différentes vertus des valeurs en action ont prédit chacun des trois facteurs du modèle CYRM-21-Peru révisé (CYRM-21-P) ; la Transcendance, l'Humanité et la Sagesse étaient des prédicteurs de bien-être ; et une résilience plus élevée rapportée conduit à un bien-être plus élevé. La plupart des participants ont obtenu des scores très élevés sur le PWI-A. Implications : La recherche présentée dans cet article concernait une population unique de jeunes autochtones résidant dans l'Amazonie péruvienne et a révélé que (a) les vertus des valeurs en action étaient associées au bien-être de manière différentielle, (b) l'Humanité était un prédicteur significatif à travers la Citoyenneté culturelle et l'Engagement social dans le CYRM-21-P révisé, et (c) une résilience plus élevée était corrélée avec un bien-être plus élevé. Les implications de cette étude peuvent être utilisées pour inspirer de futures recherches sur les populations autochtones dans un contexte latino-américain afin de développer des programmes de développement pour les jeunes qui enseignent aux étudiants une perspective basée sur les forces pour améliorer le bien-être professionnel, académique, psychologique et social.
